They met across the world, both thousands of miles from home. After dating internationally, they got married in the village of Cossonay, Switzerland. As the two were presented as Mr. and Mrs. Miller, the cathedral bells rang overhead. They honeymooned in the Alps and then traveled to Joseph’s mountain cabin in Montana to prepare for a wedding celebration with their local friends and family. Aaron and I got to take a short but sweet weekend trip joining Joseph and Sonia as they shared about their ceremony in Switzerland and repeated their vows.

As I sat there, listening to them commit to cherish each one another, to put the other’s needs ahead of their own, and to love like Christ loved his church, tears sprang to my eyes. I was reminded of how marriage is truly designed to represent the Gospel. Joseph and Sonia represent this so well and though they’ve only been married for a several weeks I knew they understood it deeply. No matter how many weddings I go to, I never get tired of the joyful, hope filled eyes of two people in love and the reminder to grow more deeply in love with my Savior and with Aaron.

Joseph and Sonia, you’ve been on a journey both individually and now together. There’s no doubt in my mind that God has had this up his sleeve since the foundations of the earth. So crazy, right!? You are both so full of love for the people around you and have such serving hearts. Aaron and I are so blessed to know you as dear friends and are so excited to have you join us on this journey of love, life, and marriage. Truly the world will know you by your love.
