Her dad’s eyes’ glistened as Mom wiped a tear. The last words of a farewell song drifted off into the chapel. Jeremiah and Elizabeth had said their last goodbyes to their family. Friends and kin gathered ’round, wishing them well with fond smiles and laughter. Then, with a last wave, they were off to their honeymoon.

At the end of a hot humid week, Saturday dawned clear and sunny after an evening rain shower. The morning sun rose on light fog and blue skies, vanishing worries of both rain or alternately, sweltering heat. Aaron and I scouted the venue grounds then headed inside. Elizabeth and her parents met us at the door and I could feel the excitement radiating from her hug.

Family played a big role in Jeremiah and Elizabeth’s wedding day. Rather than having a traditional bridal party, their families walked in with them in the processional. Elizabeth and her dad seem to share a special bond and he showed a fatherly tenderness that was beautiful to watch.

Jeremiah and Elizabeth’s wedding day vision of rustic elegance came to life through a classic color palette of peach and mint with accents of blue and gray. Peach roses, baby breath, and loads of glorious coconut showered bundt cakes decorated the reception. True to their heritage, there was plenty of delicious food for their large guest list, served family style.
