Sarah’s technically my aunt but she’s one of those people who has always been more like a sister. I grew up with her living next door, hosting scrapbooking and card making parties for my sisters and I. We’d get the invitation and run next door through a gate in the fence put there specifically for that purpose. After talking with Grandma for a few minutes and eating one of her fresh homemade cookies, we’d race upstairs to Sarah’s bedroom which was always beautifully decorated. There we’d find a card table loaded with paper in every color and print, ribbon, brads, and all our favorite stamping supplies.

Sarah was the queen of homemade greeting cards and when she opened up her stash AND helped us make our own, we were in heaven. What may have started out as a simple card making party sparked the creativity inside me that fuels so many parts of my life today. Although my sister is the one who looks like she should be Sarah’s twin, I don’t mind at all if I claim Sarah as my inspiration for my interest in interior design, great parties, and all things creative.

Sarah, you truly are such a big hearted soul and your love for people touches more lives than you know. I’m so proud of the work you’re doing as a leader in the Warrior Mom’s group and the way you pour out your talent and energy to encourage others. As the oldest of the grandkids, I’m so excited to be welcoming the 38th grandchild into the family! I know he’ll be entering a home and family where love, joy, and hospitality are always abundant.
