Rose and Rem were in the same church youth group but Rose had always been convinced she would never date one of the church guys. She even specifically thought about him, “No way, definitely not him.” Obviously time has a way of changing minds and hearts in unplanned ways because they did come to like each other and started dating.

The day he proposed was on his birthday and Rose had taken him out for dinner. After enjoying a meal together at a nice restaurant they started for home. Rem was driving and suddenly asked if Rose wanted to drive past a certain property and check it out. Several days earlier Rose had been at his house and Rem was hanging up twinkle lights on the porch, giving the excuse that his mom wanted them up. It wasn’t dark yet and when Rem asked to take a detour, Rose was immediately suspicious. But she agreed and they headed that way.

It was dark when they got back to Rem’s house and as they walked through the garage, their favorite song started playing softly. Rem made her close her eyes and led her out on the porch. Everything was beautifully set up with photos taken throughout their relationship, candles burning in a heart shape, and “Will You Marry Me” written on the wall.

Getting down on one knee he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course Rose said “Yes!” and they planned their wedding for the coming fall. Choosing a neutral palette with lots of greenery and pops of burgandy and navy, their wedding day was a joyful stylish affair captured by Paige Mercer Photography.
