A chilly winter breeze blew softly. The clouds were heavy with an oncoming February snow storm. Laughter floated across the field from a nearby sledding hill. The temperature was freezing but her smile warmed the camera. Armed with a beautiful wintery bouquet and wearing a lace and tulle mauve gown, she looked absolutely stunning.
Several days earlier, I had contacted Lorraine and asked her to model for an impromptu styled shoot. She agreed and the search began for a dress to wear. After visiting a local bridal shop and not being able to find what we were looking for at such short notice, I reached out to another friend. Rose had been a bridesmaid in multiple weddings in the last year and I was pretty sure she and Lorraine were about the same size. Rose graciously loaned us this beautiful mauve lace dress and it fit perfectly! Designed by Christina Wu, it’s carried by Affairs to Remember in Middlebury, Indiana.
Now that we had a dress, I reached out to Sarah Jess, a local hair stylist. I contacted her only days in advance and amazingly she was off work the day we had scheduled the shoot. The three of us had so much fun together as I styled the stationary details from Minted in my living room and she crafted a stunning updo. I loved the way Lorraine’s curly strawberry blond hair contrasted with the elegant mauve dress and organic florals. Her makeup was done by her twin sister, Sheila, in glowing natural shades of peachy pink.
