If you’re ready to say “yes to the dress,” and looking for modest wedding dress designers, you’re in the right place. Whether you’re looking for romantic lace, classic crepe, or a flowing chiffon gown, I’ve gathered all my favorite modest wedding dress designers to help you find “the one.” Browsing designers’ websites not only helps you get to know brands but also helps you understand the terminology used to describe silhouettes and fabrics.

Once you’ve found a dress you love, definitely schedule an appointment at a bridal shop near you that has the dress in stock but also have an open mind. Many brides, (myself included,) end up choosing a different style of dress than they first expected. Don’t be afraid to try on a dress that’s completely different from what you envisioned. Unless otherwise noted, most of these lines can be found readily at a bridal shop near you.

Finding the One

Women come in all shapes and sizes, giving us a diverse definition of true beauty. Wedding dresses come in standard sizes designed to fit the average body type. Keep this in mind if your dream dress doesn’t fit perfectly. It’s completely normal for a dress to need minor alterations to fit like it was designed just for you. Alterations also mean an extra expense so keep your budget in mind when deciding on your dress.

After buying my wedding dress online, I was disappointed when it arrived and didn’t fit perfectly the way I had imagined. I expected to feel different; more like a princess by putting on my wedding dress. I didn’t. The dress needed some minor alterations but even more, my view of myself needed an alteration. After a good cry and a “heart talk” with my sister, I realized that I made the dress, not the other way around.

Being a bride and shopping for your wedding dress is one of the most special parts of being engaged. It’s a day many girls look forward to all of their lives. As you search for that perfect one to say “yes to the dress” to, remember that it’s who you are on the inside that made your fiance fall in love with you. Then, with a smile on your face and a light in your eyes, go find that dress that makes you feel like the princess you are.
