He was tall, dark, and handsome… but he wasn’t her type. They met at a mutual friend’s wedding and hit it off right away. Edna was a server and since Jeremy came late, she was sure he was hungry so she offered him ice cream, (four times,) to which he repeatedly replied “no thanks.” Although he refused the ice cream, he did drink lots of coffee with her. She was sure she would never be that girl who gave a guy her phone number but when he asked at the end of the night, she gave in without much hesitation. When Edna got a text from Jeremy the next day asking her if she’d like to go out for a date that night, she said, “yes.”

It was Jeremy’s birthday; the two of them had been dating for quite a while, and they were back at the little seaside restaurant where they had their first date. Edna suspected that he might propose since he had asked for her ring size and she knew he had been looking at several houses but as the night wore she wasn’t so sure. After dinner, they walked out to the pier where they had talked that first night. Finally, it got chilly and Jeremy got up to leave. As they were walking back to the car, he asked Edna to “wait a minute,” and when she turned around, he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him. By this time, she was quite sure that he was her type after all, and she answered with a big, joyful, “yes!”

Under a white tent set in the backwoods of Wisconsin, next door to her family home, Jeremy and Edna said, “I do.” The previous high temperatures were replaced with a pouring rain the morning of the wedding that freshened and cooled the air. The bridesmaids wore lace dresses in lavender, one of Jeremy’s favorite colors. Surrounded by their friends and family, the two of them celebrated in a beautiful and relaxing backyard style. We left feeling like family, and knowing that here were people who knew how to love well.

Edna and Jeremy, thank you so much for your giving hearts! Throughout the day, I noticed again and again the way you put others first. Even though it was your wedding day, you didn’t make it about yourself and instead, made others feel special. Jeremy, Edna absolutely adores you; it’s obvious everytime she looks at you. Thank you for trusting us with your day and for the way you chose to celebrate in a way that was true to you as a couple. Wishing you God’s grace on your new adventure and sending you all our love!
